As we kick off a new year, West Plains Recycling is setting our sights on an ambitious community goal: 2.6 in ’26 — recycling 2.6 million pounds of recyclable material in the year 2026.
It all starts this week, as crews will pickup boxes and wrapping paper on the same day that your trash normally gets picked up.
Why 2.6 in ’26 Matters
Every pound recycled is a pound kept out of the waste stream. Even though West Plains does not have its own landfill, recycling still plays an important role in conserving natural resources, reducing transportation and disposal costs, and lessening our environmental impact.
Building Toward Our Goal
Throughout the year, we’ll be focusing on:
Improving recycling education
Increasing community engagement through events, schools, and community partners
Exploring improvements that make recycling easier and more accessible for our residents

Reaching 2.6 in ’26 won’t happen without you. Small daily choices, recycling correctly, reducing contamination, and encouraging others to participate, add up to a big impact.
