West Plains, MO – September is right around the corner, which means it’s time to celebrate National Library Card Month! The West Plains Public Library has a series of exciting events and initiatives planned to honor the occasion, and everyone in the community is invited to participate.
Mayor to Proclaim “National Library Card Month” on September 6
To officially kick off the celebration, Mayor Mike Topliff will proclaim September as “National Library Card Month” on Friday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m. A small reception will follow at the library, offering community members a chance to join in the festivities and learn more about what the library offers.
Library “Shelfie” Campaign and Community Engagement
The West Plains Public Library has prepared a selfie prop station, including “I Love My Library” pins, to encourage everyone to participate in the library’s “Shelfie” campaign. Library staff will also visit local businesses throughout September.
Giveaways and Surprises for Patrons
In appreciation of the continued support from its patrons, the library will host various giveaways throughout the month. This initiative is the library’s way of saying “Thank you” to the community for making the library an essential part of West Plains.

The West Plains Public Library is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays
