The West Plains Fire Department is proud to announce its participation in the 70th Annual Fill the Boot campaign, a nationwide initiative that has raised over $700 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) since its inception. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 24th, with local firefighters stationed at three key intersections in West Plains from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to collect donations.
Firefighters from the West Plains Fire Department, as well as other area departments, will be collecting donations at the following locations:
Broadway & Missouri Avenue
West Main & Preacher Roe
Harlin & Garrett
The Fill the Boot campaign has been a cornerstone of the MDA’s fundraising efforts, with funds going directly to support research, care, and advocacy for individuals living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. The West Plains community has always shown strong support for this cause, and the Fire Department is honored to continue this tradition.
For those unable to donate in person, a QR code will be available at each location, allowing individuals to contribute electronically. Every donation, whether large or small, makes a significant impact on the lives of those affected by these diseases.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Chris Sterner, Fire Chief of the West Plains Fire Department. “The Fill the Boot campaign is an opportunity for us to come together and make a real difference in the lives of those who need our support the most.”
Join the West Plains Fire Department in making this year’s Fill the Boot campaign the most successful yet. Your contribution can help change lives.
