West Plains Public Library is hosting Dickerson Park Zoo as part of our celebration of the annual Summer Reading Program.
Nature’s Palette: The Art and Science of Animal Colors
Stripes, spots, swirls, and speckles—nature is bursting with color, patterns, and textures! This summer, join Dickerson Park Zoo as we explore the amazing diversity of animal coloration. Why do tigers have bold orange and black stripes? Do chameleons really change color just to camouflage? Are a parrot’s vibrant feathers a warning to predators, or do they serve another purpose?
In this fun and fascinating program, kids and adults alike will uncover how animals use their colors and patterns for camouflage, communication, and clever survival strategies. Bring your thinking caps and curious questions as we embark on this kaleidoscopic adventure!
