The West Plains Aquatic Center is open during the summer season and open to the public seven days a week. It consists of two swimming pools; a smaller pool and a larger lap pool. The smaller pool is a zero entrance pool and is equipped with a mother’s bench in the water, a mushroom waterfall, a small frog slide for smaller children, and a large water slide located at the opposite end of the pool with a 3 ft 6″ depth. The larger pool includes two diving boards with a depth of 12 feet. Both pools are surrounded by concrete leisure areas filled with lawn chairs. There is a dining area outside of the concession stand complete with umbrella covered tables for guests to sit and eat.

West Plains Aquatic Center – Inclement Weather & Low Attendance rule
To ensure the safety, comfort, and responsible operation of the West Plains Aquatic Center, the following rule will be observed regarding weather conditions and attendance:
1. Temperature Policy
- The Aquatic Center may delay opening or remain closed for the day if the outdoor air temperature is below 70°F (21°C) and projected to remain below that threshold during normal operating hours.
- Temperature readings will be based on reputable local weather services and verified at least one hour prior to scheduled opening.
2. Low Attendance Policy
- If there are no visitors within the first two (2) hours of operation, staff may close the Aquatic Center for the remainder of the day.
- If fewer than twenty (20) visitors attend during the first two (2) hours of operation:
- Management may choose to close one of the pools (e.g., leisure pool or lap pool) and consolidate operations to the remaining open pool.
- Full closure may still be considered based on staffing levels, weather, and operational feasibility.
3. Closure Notification
- Any changes in operating hours or closures due to weather or attendance will be promptly posted on the West Plains Parks & Recreation social media platforms, when possible.
- Patrons are encouraged to check for updates before arriving at the facility.

During the pool’s off-season, please direct any questions or concerns regarding the Aquatic Center to the Parks and Recreation Office at 417-256-7304. Please note that pool rental reservations will not be accepted until the Aquatic Center opens for the season.
