The Airport Advisory Board for the West Plains Regional Airport is composed of three airport patrons and once city council member, all appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. Non-council members serve staggered three-year terms to ensure continuity, while the city council representative serves a one-year term. Each year, the board selects a president and secretary from among its members, excluding the city council member. Meeting at least quarterly- either in-person, by phone, or virtually, the board’s primary responsibility is to provide recommendations, advice, and feedback to the city administrator and city council to promote the airport’s use, safety, development, and efficient operation.

ESTABLISHING LEGISLATION
There is created an airport advisory board to consist of three patrons of the West Plains Municipal Airport along with one member of the city council. Members of the airport advisory board shall be appointed by the mayor and each appointment shall be confirmed by the city council.

The term shall be for three years with the initial board serving staggered terms of one, two, and three years so that one non-city council member’s term shall expire each year. The city councilperson serving on the board shall always serve a one-year term.

Sec. 2-402. – Officers.
The board shall annually select one of its members to serve as president and one of its members to serve as secretary. The city council member serving on the board shall not serve as an officer.

The board shall meet at least quarterly with meetings to be held in person, by phone, or virtually at a location to be selected by the board members. The board shall provide recommendations, advice, and feedback to the city administrator and city council regarding ways to promote the use, safety, development, and efficient operation of the airport.
